Brighton, Shopping and over coming fears| SIMPLYKATSINELLA

Last weekend I faced my fears. Brighton. The city itself isn't one of my fears its the crowds and panic that I experience.

Brighton is busy, full of workers, shoppers, students. That's our kryptonite for us who suffer from anxiety. I braved the hussle and bussle and stayed at my own pace. We wandered around the shops, picking a few things from KIKO, TIGER and more.

The vibe around Brighton is a busy city in a seaside town, bringing all kinds of people from around the world.
Usually I would avoid places like this like the plague.
But I was fine, I wasn't rushed and I feel accomplished overcoming a fear and actually had a lovely day out and discovered the beauty of Brighton.
What I've learnt is to say yes to things more and what's the worse that could happen?

SIDE NOTE: They have a freaking homesense in the town centre!!! *bootie wiggle*

I have a KIKO review coming soon, so keep an eye out for that.

New job must haves | SIMPLYKATSINELLA

New jobs can be daunting for anyone , but going in with the right mind and good attitude will allow you to feel happy and comfortable in no time.

Since starting my job I've realised the FOUR must haves every one should have.

Pencil Case:
For all of us stationary obsessed , a pencil case with your fancy coloured pens and highlighters will finally come in use!!

Jotting down notes in coloured pens and little annotations is how I learn best- so if you like to scribble and draw, go for it.. Your new employer will be impressed with your can-do attitude and your willingness to learn.

Notepad:
Obviously for drawing your masterpieces and scribbling your important notes.

Diary:
I can't live without my diary now, its the best way to keep track of things. Keeping an eye on dates, and meetings.

Water bottle:
Hydrate, Hydrate , Hydrate. Theres nothing worse, especially in this heat being thirsty. Keeping a bottle of water with you not only saves you money, but also allows you too keep any eye of your daily intake of water.

....and breath |SIMPLYKATSINELLA

Chill out. Don't get stressed. Smile.

Have you heard those phrases and rolled your eyes...

I have. When you suffer from depression any one of those phrases make you want to pull your eyeballs out and scream.

My depression came when I had my first miscarriage. I say first because if you read my previous post of miscarriage you know they happen. You can't guarentee when but it will happen.

I cried and accepted and moved on.

But the thing is I thought I moved on, my body, my life and everything moved on without me.

I started getting irritable. I started to get sad. I never used that word until then but I would keep saying I just feel sad. Not upset, I feel the word upset made it seem it was temporary. Sad meant I felt it all the time.

It wasn't until a cry for help happened in my life. I'm not ready to explain what happened but I needed help. I was shocked to find that help was so easy to find if I knew where I was looking.

Help came in the shape of doctors, friends, family and fresh air.

Fresh air became so important because when you feel depressed you don't sleep and when you sleep you don't want to wake up.

Fresh air meant I felt free and the only time I didn't feel numb.

I'm still recovering, so I'm not going to tell you how to get better or say it goes.

But I'm here to just say it will be OK and enjoy the little things.

APRIL FAVOURITES | SIMPLYKATSINELLA

These are a few of my favourite things (imagine me singing this as if I was Maria from sound of music)

So this month I have been loving these few products. And when I say loving, I mean using all of them at any chance I get!!

MAC Studio Fix Foundation:

Currently I've been tanning at the moment, so my current new love is the Mac Studio fix in NW18. My tan has a yellowy undertone so NW blends so well! I love the finish and the coverage the only thing I'm not too keen on is the smell! But other than that , love it!

GIRLZONLY dry shampoo:

I pick this up in tescos in my monthly food shop ( I grab the big can) and I love it. Whether I'm just using its for a oompf or to hide some greasy hair its so good. What I like to do is spray it in, do my makeup and brush it out again. That allows any grease to be soaked up and your hair to absorb the spray.

PS... contour kit:
So this is product is the ones I brought just to try out on holiday (and I didnt have my usual contour kit) but my god I love it. The colours are so easy to use and blendable. The lighter shade has a grey undertone which I use to chisel out my chubby cheeks. The yellow colour does look a bit suspect and I haven't been brave enough to try it yet!

MAC Please me (Matte Finish):

This pink colour is perfect for the spring/summer months and looks beautiful with a tan. This lipstick has blue undertones which makes your teeth look whiter. Its not a OUT THERE pink but more of a summery pink colour. It lasts all day and isn't drying in the slightest!

Soap and Glory:

Soap and Glory have really brought these out the bag, and have topped any eyebrow or mascara I have ever used. The eyebrow archery pencil /tint is AMAZING. The precision of the pen and the pencil makes your brows stay in place all day. I chose the blonde colour and it compliments my skin tone! The mascara, is exactly what it says on the tin. Thick and fast. Its seriously like you have lash extensions and perfect for a quick glam look.

Vivis Collection Eyelashes:

These are so similar to the infamous demi wispies but half the price. You can find them on ebay and they are beautiful. They have a thin band so personally I find them easier to apply and more flexible!

DOES THIS REALLY WORK| SIMPLYKATSINELLA

DOES THIS REALLY WORK??

Has anyone heard of the makeup hack which is VASELINE. Well I've done a bit of research ( googling till I could google no more) and it has been said that Vaseline can make your eyebrows and eyelashes thicker and longer.

So here's the start of my journey, last night I applied Vaseline on my brows and eyelashes to receive a very puzzled look from my dear fiancé. To be honest I think he just allows me to do whatever to avoid questioning my weirdness.

Now the initial application feels very greasy and sticky and I'm not gonna lie, if I break out in spots around these said areas I will be blaming the Vaseline!!

So the picture below shows the first application, after reading up , I will apply Vaseline to my brows twice a day, and Vaseline to my eyelashes at night...

BTW- I know, I know, the faces I've pulled are beyond attractive... (please note the sarcasm)

I plan to check back once every week to enlighten you on my Vaseline hacks... I'll try it out and if it works then! Voila 💗

If you have any other hacks or tricks you want me to try so you don't have to, let me know on twitter or instagram!!

I've also recently started a facebook for my blogs, so please follow me on there <3

Miscarriage| SIMPLY KATSINELLA

MISCARRIAGE.

It’s such a scary word…

It’s the taboo word of newly pregnant mummies who think even saying it out loud will jinx they’re little bundle of joy who is all snuggled away and working hard in the womb.

But it happens, Miscarriages are much more common than most people realise. Among women who know they're pregnant, it's estimated one in six of these pregnancies will end in miscarriage”.How scary is that, one in six - in theory it’s almost a normal thing, an everyday thing if you will.

I wouldn't describe it as an everyday thing.

I would describe it as life changing, heart breaking and an emotional challenge.

I remember sitting in bed crying to my partner ‘ How can something so small, bring everyone so much joy and so much pain into this world’

One in six - in theory it’s almost a normal thing, an everyday thing if you will.

I wouldn’t describe it as an everyday thing.

I would describe it as a huge cloud above you that only yourself can see. You have to go about the world pretending this cloud doesn’t exist but in fact it’s raining. Hard, relentless and at the time no sign of stopping. Not for anyone.

There needs to be more awareness and more empathy towards those who have suffered a loss. Not a miscarriage. It’s a loss.

More sympathy towards those who struggle conceiving, for those who have fertility issues, for those who just can not have children.

But also don’t forget to celebrate those who can carry those little bundles of happiness into the world.

You never know who , when or where this may have happened. But please be aware of who, when and where you are when you comment on something so common and heart breaking as miscarriage.

Number25- SLIMMING WORLD KINDA

Okay , okay! So I haven't joined slimming world YET. I wanted to try it at home before I go 'oh well may as well go to a group'.. I found lots of online stuff about slimming world and about syns and my lovely friend (current slimming world member is helping me).

So I'm on day three, usually I give up by now.. but I'm enjoying the challenge and actually I'm enjoying the 'diet'. It doesn't feel like a diet.. I can still be naughty but in little portions.

What I tend to do is fill up on pasta/ rice with dinners so I don't feel hungry enough to snack after.. or if I feel a little hungry I grab my apples and grapes.. because they're 'FREE' so I can eat as many as I want! ( all though I do recommend not eating tons of grapes before bed because you may get a dodge tummy..

Funnily enough my shopping bills gone down.. buying fresh meat and veg (I thought would be expensive) is brill , because seasoning becomes your best friend! Garlic and herb chicken with rice, yes please!!

ICELAND sell brilliant meals too, so defo check them out, especially if you don't wanna faff about after work..
At the moment they have an offer where if you buy 3 meals/meats from slimming world range you can get free pack of muller light yogurts (which I believe are syn free)
OPERATION SASSY BRIDE IS UNDER GO!

Number 23- HE PUT A RING ON IT

If he likes it then he should've put a ring on it.. well he did!

So imagine ladies, all through the christmas period Shaun had made me believed he took a dive and brought me clothes for christmas... BAD MOVE. I don't know if your anything like me, I hate people buying me clothes.. So there I was being a moody cow like usual, annoyed/ interested in what clothes he brought me. To which I had one box to open.

Initial thought, maybe he did get me vouchers. PRAISE THE HIGH HEAVENS. To which I notice my dear mum recording me. You would've thought I'd have a clue by now.. nope. I thought this was a prank on me..

So inside the box was another box, and so on until I opened a little box at the bottom. Now stupid me thought aw cute he got me a ring... went to look down and inside there was a little note..

I'm unsure why Shaun had to clarify it was him who was asking.. but it honesty took my breath away..

So now I'm engaged.. He's my 'fiance' (squeels in excitement)

Do you have any stories how your partners proposed I would love to hear!

Number 22- A lot has happened..

So I've been MIA at the moment but a lot has happened!!

Me and Shaun got some very bad news, which I'm not quite ready to talk/write about yet, then we had Christmas, then new year.. Oh yeh and somewhere along there I got engaged...

HE POPPED THE QUESTION!!!!!!!!!

It was so perfect and it was all captured on video.. So look forward to that blog post. It was so perfect and a wonderful end to a not so great year.

If you could see me right now, I'm smiling ear to ear (imagine the Cheshire cat from Alice and wonderland if you will)

I also thought up some 'new year resolutions' which I am keen to stick to...

  • blog more, it allows you to relieve stress
  • lose weight (I swear everyone is this, but hey! I have to fit into a wedding dress)
  • move to a bigger house
  • be more loving & caring
  • save , save, save
So this post is just a quick one, but ya'know, I need to ease in somehow!

Number 21- DIY ANNIVERSARY GIFT

So it's that time of the year where were celebrating our anniversary. I think anniversaries are a time to celebrate the time together rather than lavish each other in gifts - that's what you can do for birthdays and christmas.

So I decided to create a scrap book of our time together. Simple, easy and sentimental (& cheap if your counting pennies atm)

STEP ONE: So I just found a simple scrap book in my collection (I'm a hoarder of stationary) but you can pick one up absolutely anywhere! Supermarkets or stationary shops.

STEP TWO: I made a folder in my phone of nice pictures of me and my boyf and quotes I then used a app on my phone called 'FREE PRINTS' . Each month your entitled 45 images or so for free and just pay for P&P. - a right old bargain

STEP THREE: Buy some glue and any crafty bits you want to include.

STEP FOUR: I then just stuck images on different pages and labeled them with dates and anything significant that happened at that time.

It did take me a couple of days in total to complete but well worth it and its something you can keep forever and look back at. My boyf loved it and some bits made him laugh, smile and cry at. Make it personal and write down things you would never dreamed of writing before.

Have you made your partner a gift like this before?- or something similar?

Number 19 - ONE STEP BACK , TWO STEPS FORWARD

So I didn't know what to call this one. I just wanted to write down what I'm going through and call it day. But guess what I can't just call it a day- but I can most definitely reflect on this week.

Hands down my week hasn't been great, but I also feel like I've taken a step forward right direction.

Limits
This week has taught me my limits but also to try and test them. Its taught me the reason why I need to look after myself and not let everything plummet around me. Its taught me to say NO I can't let this happen- which for a stubborn young lady is a MASSIVE STEP. My anxiety has run me around in circles this week. Baring in mind I had my worse seizure Monday at work, got into work on Tuesday but felt no better.. but I tried. I got ready and I tried.

Boyfriend
He's is honestly my rock whether I'm sitting up in bed laughing with him, or laying on the bathroom floor crying. He just helps. He's up in the middle of the night with me if I have a seizure to convince me everythings ok. That's what I need. He's what I need.

Support of Friends and Family
This week has also taught me the strength that my friends and family give me. I received a lovely text message from one of my best friends which put a smile on my face. I'm not one to spill my feelings , I'd rather listen and help others. But shes proud of me. I love her for that.My other best friend is one message away and reassures any doubts that may come. My family well there brilliant anyway. Mums there to help me be strong and my Dads there for that reassuring hug to let me know I'll be OK. He's not one with words. But I knew that's what the hug meant. Shaun's family are great as well, checking up on me. I feel the strength that they all give me everyday. That's what helps me get up off the floor.

Admitting when I need help
This is a big one for me, I struggle asking for help. Or asking to just let my feelings out. I just need to be the strong one. But sometimes admitting that I'm not strong and I need the help is all I can do. I usually feel the doctors are a waste of time, but I had to go. I needed help. I felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders.

Now.. I know what to call this post. ONE STEP BACK TWO STEPS FORWARD.

I just hope that this post may help someone , or relate to someone in similar circumstance.

Your strong, I'm Strong.

TAKE CARES,
SIMPLYKATSINELLA

Number 18 - It happened... again

Usually with my epilepsy I like to keep it in and not talk about it. But I suppose this may be a weight lifted off my shoulders.

So in 2014 I was diagnosed with Partial Epileptic Seizures. The type of seizures you zone out of everyday life, or most of the time have little seizures in my sleep.

I originally went into the doctors with a suspected heart murmur. I was experiencing the feeling of my heart feeling like it was going to fast or gonna jump out of my chest. I had a doctors appointment, which I very nearly missed. One moment it was 3:30 next moment it was 4:30 and I didn't know where the time had gone.

I had a specialist come specifically to the doctors to meet me so I'm lucky because I was so late he was able to see me. I phoned my mum in a panic as she was already at the doctors waiting.

At the time it seemed as if I had a panic attack- I never ever had one of them.

We were all just talking and mum was explaining the doctor about times that I used to zone out , or I smelt burning, or my night terrors when I was younger.

I was then referred to a neurologist. After EEG's and MRI's I was diagnosed. I'm not gonna lie, it hurt finding out. I was learning to drive at the time , I also felt alone. I tried different medications and was told and Stress may be the cause of it all.

Fast forward 2 years and I was having ups and downs. Some weeks/months I was skipping round fine, some days I found my self on the floor in the toilets at work after 'zoning out'.

I reduced days at work, and gave up college. But recently it flared up  again... (is that the right word)

I now have experienced full body seizures, where my body gives way and I fall the the ground and apparently convulse. I wake up confused. So I'm now waiting for a urgent neurologist appointment.

I feel epilepsy is such a closeted thing. I found I had no one to talk to about it at my age group. So hopefully writing this will give young adults a place they can come to relate to. No I'm not a QUEEN of bossing my seizures at the moment. But I am experiencing them. I'm fighting.

So here's to keep you updated on my situation and I will write more posts about my journey in the future.

Keep Slaying,
Take Care,
SIMPLYKATSINELLA

Number 17- Lets jump into Autumn, keeping the stress away

I think Autumn is my fave season, I love the crisp fresh air in the morning, the crunch of leaves belief your feet and the fact I can get away with wearing dark lippy.

All my motivation starts in Autumn after summer where you drink and eat and its too hot to do any activity, October comes and I love going for walks wrapped up in my big scarf.

On these walks I like to evaluate my week or my life. I think of how I felt that week and if I was down how to pick myself up again. Giving me motivation to keep going and not fail. Walks allow me to exercise any stress or anxiety I feel about certain situations. I.e work, epilepsy, relationships.

It also gets me out the house, sometimes I rarely leave the house. I work three days a week, so thats four days of each week I have to gain motivation to leave the house and not mope about all day. Its hard, but I do it.

Autumn also feels like the end of something and a beginning of a new part of life. Its where nature takes its course , ridding itself of the dead , useless leaves and soon to grow into something marvelous and beautiful.

Halloweens soon , then bonfire night & Christmas. I love all three things, it brings friends and family together. The unity you need to stay strong and keeping pursuing your dreams.

What does Autumn mean to you?

Number 16- Whats in my bag Autumn 2016 TAG

So if your like me , I love to watch/read whats going on in everyones handbags. Maybe I'm just nosey?

The Bag
My bags from New look it was gifted to me for my birthday and I love it. It's quite small in comparison to my other bags but I love the look of it. Its faux leather and a similar style to the 'celine' bags.

I love the gold hardware and subtle nude shade which isn't too pink and isn't too brown which allows me to wear it with pretty much anything.

Inside

Inside the bag I keep my purse, sunglasses, phone, keys, lady necessities and a 'emergency kit' bag.

My purse is from river island and is just a practical purse, it matches the bag with the gold hardware. Tbh I thought keeping a light purse clean would be difficult , but the faux leather allows me to just to wipe down any mess with a bog standard baby wipe..

The sunglasses are just some cheap ones due to me losing my prescription ones so until I find some new ones these are just easy to chuck in.

I then just carry my phone (iphone 5s- which is on its last legs) my keys (The fluffy keyring is from 'peacocks'. Then my 'always' tin with some pads in.

Finally I have my emergency kit bags. I love having this in my bag incase I need back up off anything.
The bags from a little gift shop from Greece. Inside this I have my Palmer lip balm, chewing gum, rapid bond nail fix glue, Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer by rimmel in the shade Apocoliptic, My epilepsy medication, a spare pen, sanctuary spa hand cream, my 'Twist and Spritz Rose Gold Atomiser' with my Olympia perfume in it and a marker pen which I use for work.

All in all theres the contents in my bag- well when its not cluttered with reciepts and empty breakfast bar packets.

One last thing- does any one else boyf/hubby/girlf/partner use your bag to carry there stuff too? Its drives me INSANE.

I wanna know whats in your handbag too so let me know!
